We are Neet and Wendy and we would like to welcome you to our fortnightly challenge, ‘Artful Times’, where we are offering a variety of challenges to inspire you to create in whichever style or medium of crafting you enjoy. You never know, we might even inspire you to create something out of your comfort zone and try out something new.

Yes like all challenge sites we have rules and guidelines. We hope you will read and follow them, we have Oyster Stamps as our sponsor, and of course, a winner and runner up will be chosen each month. We may also have the occasional guest designer.

Challenge 52 Heavy Metal - make Metal the main Focus

Oh dear, we really set you a poser with our last challenge - Puzzle Pieces.  We only had a few entries but what we had we loved so well done to you ladies for giving our challenge a go!

Here we are with a new challenge, we hope will inspire you to join us for the next fortnight.   Metal can be so versatile, coloured, die cut, embossed, and I bet you can think of other ways to use it. You could also alter a tin or embellishment, make a cover for a book or turn it into a picture.   All that we ask is that it is the main focus of your creation is "Metal" in some form or another.  What about using 'foil' as faux metal?

Chrissie  made a jewelry box

Neet covered a box

Wendy  used it on a key cupboard

Please visit our blogs to find out more details on how and what was made.

Remember to read the rules and Guidelines at the top of the page to be in with a chance to win £10 voucher to spend at Oyster Stamp.

Metal is the main focus

Challenge 51 - Use Game Pieces

Messing around with dominoes the other week and thoroughly enjoying myself I began to think of the different game pieces we often use in our paper-crafting and jewellery making etc and one of my favourites are the jigsaw pieces.  I love using the large ones for books and the small ones for jewellery or embellishments.  But then again I love using dominoes and all the other game pieces that are similar - Mahjong tiles, trionimoes etc.

Wonder how many game pieces you can find a use for?  Have a rummage through all your memorabilia and see what you have - and then - here's the challenge - make something with them.

Here's what Chrissie did - what can you spot that she has used?

Von has submitted this but try as I might I cannot work out what it is - she is obviously going to surprise us all - has she had an article published?

I made a jigsaw book but then I also made a little box out of some wooden childrens dominoes - here it is

You will have to wait until you get to my blog to see the book because we have a new member of our Design Team.  All put your hands together and give a big warm welcome to Wendy who has been entering our challenges right from the very beginning.  Here is what she has submitted - and it is beautiful.

Pop along to the individual blogs to see just what we all did, and in some cases, how we did it.
Remember to read the Rules and Guidelines at the top of the page to be in with a chance to win a £10 voucher from Oyster Stamps.  This is a monthly prize and covers two challenges when a Winner and a Runner Up is chosen.  Details at the top of the page.  Good Luck!

Winner and Runner-up for Challenges 48/49

Hello All

This is my first time choosing the winner and runner-up at Artful Times and it was a very difficult task because of all the wonderful entries. Don't forget that there is still another week left to join in our Anything Goes challenge . So if you make anything this week that you would like to share with us, we would love to include you in the next prize choice. Just follow the rules and guidelines to be eligible.

Here are my winner and runner-up, both chosen from challenge 49 -the 'box clever challenge' though the first one was made with some Tim Holtz techniques and products so fitted both challenges 48 and 49 really

My Winner.
Made by Jess - I just loved the way she had done the inside of the box and the flowers on the inside of the lid

My runner-up.
Made by Kati -I had never seen one of these box cards before and I liked that she included a link for a tutorial video and also had a translate on her blog so we could read her post.
